Is this course eligible for federal financial aid?

Because this is a certificate program and not a college credit course, it does not qualify for federal financial aid.

Is this course eligible for private student loans?

Yes, private student loans are available. Click here email Jack Virgie. to get the information you need to apply for a private student loan. Note that you will be allowed to start the program as soon as you receive pre-approval from a lender. However, the lender must approve your loan and provide funding before we can place you in your
externship. If the lender does not provide the loan by the time you are ready for the externship, your status will be put on hold. Once the lender provides the loan, we will place you in an externship and you will be allowed to complete the program and earn your Certificate of Completion. If the lender denies your loan and you have already started the program, you will not be responsible for paying the tuition nor will you be assessed any financial penalty or additional fees. You will, of course, not receive a Certificate of Completion, either.

What happens if I choose to pay using a payment plan and can’t make all my payments?

If you are not able to make all of your payments, we will put your status on hold. You will be able to resume the program once you are able to continue making payments. If you miss a payment during the externship, you will be allowed to finish the externship, but you will not earn your Certificate of Completion until you are fully paid.

What is the refund policy?

• Students who fail their drug screening and/or background check will be given a full tuition refund and will not be allowed to continue in the program. Students are required to submit their drug screen and background check documents to Florida Gateway College within 14 days from the day they are sent login credentials for gaining access to the Learning Management System. The refund does not include any other costs including textbooks and the expenses associated with their drug screening and background check.
• In addition, students are eligible for a full refund for up to 14 days from the day they are sent login credentials for gaining access to the Learning Management System. Once a refund has been issued, the student will not be allowed to continue in the program.
• To request a refund, please send an email to: Jack Virgie. Please enter “Refund Request – FGC Pharmacy Technician Training Program” in the subject line.

How long will it take for me to complete the course?

The course is made up of two parts. The first part is the online portion, which is self- paced. The online curriculum is designed to be completed in 14 weeks, but we give students up to 20 weeks to complete it. Extensions will be granted by the instructor(s) on a case-by-case basis.
After successfully completing the online portion of the program, students will be placed in an 80-hour externship. We offer three scheduling options:
• 40 hours per week for 2 weeks
• 20 hours per week for 4 weeks
• 10 hours per week for 8 weeks
We encourage you to finish the externship as quickly as possible. This is typically better for the pharmacy and also allows you to earn your Certificate of Completion faster.

What are the study requirements for this course?

In addition to watching approximately 60 hours of videos, we expect students to study an additional 6 to 8 hours per week to complete the reading assignments and homework.

How difficult is the math in this program?

We recognize that some people may be rusty in their math skills. That is why we assume a very basic level of math knowledge. We start with the fundamentals and work our way up to conversions. Eventually we get to dosage calculations and tackle the more difficult math concepts. Our instructors have been extremely successful at helping students learn the math concepts they’ll need to be successful pharmacy technicians.

Will I be required to set up my own externship?

No. We will take care of that for you. We’ll place you in a pharmacy as close to your home as possible.

How long is the externship?

The externship is an 80-hour experience, which will provide you with real world experience. We offer three scheduling options:
• 40 hours per week for 2 weeks
• 20 hours per week for 4 weeks
• 10 hours per week for 8 weeks
